March 2026

Dear Readers,
This month’s theme: Small Wins, Big Impact reminds us that progress is incremental. In adult education growth shows up quietly. Like a budding flower after a harsh winter. We see classroom evidence of this in learner participation, a student returning after time away, or a new strategy sparking engagement where before there was none.
For some small wins may be access to accommodations, resources, or career options. Others may be fueled by stronger team connections and more inclusive practices. These moments may seem modest, but they build trust, momentum, and lasting change. More than this month’s theme, Small Wins, Big Impact this reflects the reality of our daily commitment of recognizing progress before it is measurable.
By focusing on small wins, we celebrate progress and give ourselves permission to notice growth without waiting for perfection. In a profession defined by outcomes, recognizing small wins is an act of professional self-care. Small Wins, Big Impact reframes success by valuing process over performance and reminds us that lasting outcomes in adult education grow from consistent, thoughtful actions. What starts small can ripple outward, shaping practice, strengthening communities, and building meaningful change—one win at a time.

How Can We Better 16- to 24-Year-olds in General Adult Education?
(RIRE Article)
A research study supported by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC) examined school administrative practices that promote student retention and success. A first article (June 2020) addressed results at the elementary and secondary levels. This second phase of the research, to which 14 principals or assistant principals from 7 administrative regions of Quebec contributed, presents revised or innovative practices in general adult education (FGA) centers, again aimed at promoting student retention and success. Four main themes were addressed during the research: pedagogical practices, the role of teachers, digital development, and student support. This article focuses on student support. The article is in French, but well worth the read.

The resources have been adapted for the Financial Education program for Adult General Education, adapted version (in French only).

Small Wins, Big Impact: Celebrating Progress in Adult & Vocational Education
This month, we’re putting the spotlight on celebrating the small wins. In AGE and VT, success or even progress doesn’t always manifest in big, dramatic leaps. Usually, it presents itself in much smaller milestones – completing a competency, mastering a new tool, speaking up in class or simply showing up consistently. These tiny victories are the foundation of lasting success.
Let’s emphasise these moments and explore how they can create real and lasting impact.
